Learn Quran
The Quran is the divine book of guidance, and learning it by heart is a noble aspiration for any believer. Seeking Allah’s assistance through supplication (dua) is essential in this journey.
Here are some powerful duas to help in learning the Quran by heart. These duas ask for ease, understanding, and retention of the Quran.
Dua to Learn Quran by Heart
For students specifically pursuing Hifz, the dua for memorization carries a unique urgency. The goal is not just reading but embedding the words of Allah so deeply that they become part of your inner voice.
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as’aluka an tarzuqani hifdha al-Qur’an, wa fahma al-Qur’an, wal-‘amala bil-Qur’an. Allahumma inni as’aluka an taj’alani min ahlil-Qur’an wa khasstika, wa an tuqarribani ilayka, wa tarda ‘anni.
Translation: O Allah, I ask You to bless me with learning the Quran by heart, understanding it, and acting upon it. O Allah, I ask You to make me among the people of the Quran, Your chosen ones, and to bring me close to You and be pleased with me.
Transliteration: Allahumma la taqta’ al-Qur’an min qulubina wa la min buyutina, waj’alhu mirathan lana fi awladina min ba’dina.
Translation: O Allah, do not remove the Quran from our hearts or our homes, and make it an inheritance for our children after us.
Transliteration: Allahumma Badi’a as-samawati wal-ard, Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram, wal-‘izzati allati la turam. As’aluka ya Allahu ya Rahmanu bijalalika wa noori wajhika an tulzima qalbi hifdha Kitabika kama ‘allamtani, warzuqni an atluwahu ‘alan-nahwi alladhi yurdika ‘anni.
Translation: O Allah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of Glory and Honor and Might that none can resist, I ask You, O Allah, O Most Merciful, by Your Glory and the Light of Your Countenance, to make my heart firmly retain Your Book as You have taught me, and to grant me the ability to recite it in a manner that pleases You.

Dua to Learn Quran
The comprehensive dua for learning Quran —covering memorization, understanding, and consistent practice—is best expressed through a supplication found in authentic Sunnah. This dua is often taught to new students as their primary opening supplication.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever recites the Quran and acts upon what is in it, his parents will be crowned on the Day of Resurrection with a crown whose light is better than the light of the sun.” (Sunan Abu Dawud)
Transliteration: Allahumma arhamni bil-Qur’an, waj’alhu li amanan wa nooran wa hudan wa rahmatan, Allahumma dhakkirni minhu ma naseet, wa ‘allimni minhu ma jahilt, warzuqni tilawatahu anaa’a allayli, waj’alhu li hujjatan ya Rabbal ‘alameen.
Translation: O Allah, have mercy on me through the Quran, and make it for me a source of security, light, guidance, and mercy. O Allah, remind me of what I have forgotten from it, teach me what I do not know, grant me the ability to recite it in the depths of the night, and make it an argument in my favor, O Lord of the Worlds.
Transliteration: Allahumma aj’al al-Qur’an al-‘azim rabi’a qalbi wa noora sadri wa jalaa’a hammi wa dhahaba huzni, warzuqni tilawatahu ‘alal-wajhi alladhi yurdika ‘anni, waj’alhu nooran fi qabri, wa mu’nisan fi wahdati, wa nooran li ‘ala as-sirat, wa shafi’an li yawmal-qiyamah, warzuqni hifdhahu, wa a’inni ‘ala dhalik.
Translation: O Allah, make the great Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the relief of my worries, and the removal of my grief. Grant me the ability to recite it in a way that pleases You, and make it a light in my grave, a companion in my loneliness, a light upon the bridge (Sirat), and an intercessor for me on the Day of Judgment. Bless me with its retention and help me with that.

Translation: O Allah, have mercy on me by helping me abandon sins as long as I live. Have mercy on me by preventing me from engaging in what does not concern me. Grant me the ability to see what pleases You.

The Role of Consistent Dua Alongside Structured Learning
Dua is not a substitute for method—it is its companion. Scholars of Hifz have always emphasized that the student who combines sincere supplication with disciplined practice progresses far faster than one who relies on effort alone.
The Online Quran Learning with Tajweed Course at E Quran School integrates this principle by pairing structured Tajweed lessons with spiritual formation guidance. Certified Qaris on the platform understand that pronunciation accuracy and heartfelt dua work together, not separately.
